Three ways to stay, a few miles off the A9
Auchnahillin does three things at once. There are ten static caravan holiday homes and a wooden chalet to rent, ten hard standing pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans, and a tent area of ten pitches with gravel parking and picnic benches. Donald and Anita Gibson run it, and it takes holidaymakers only, with no commercial vehicles and no stays for work.
Every holiday home is self contained, with its own shower and toilet and a kitchen with a full size gas cooker, a microwave, a fridge freezer and the pots and crockery to go with them. Heating is a gas fire in the lounge and electric heaters in the bedrooms, and rates take in all utilities, bedding, linen and towels.

Touring rates cover two people. A backpacker with a very small tent pays £12, a medium pitch without electric is £20 and takes a tent up to four person size or a campervan up to five metres, a larger pitch is £24, and an electric pitch is £29. The facilities building has free hot showers and an accessible parent and baby room, and the campers' kitchen has hot water sinks, a free microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge freezer, and charging points.
Good to know
- Holiday home check in is after 3pm and check out by 10am, self service, with instructions sent the day before. Touring arrivals are after noon and no later than 9pm, with departure by noon.
- No deposit is taken, but the balance falls due four weeks before arrival, and nothing is refunded for a cancellation inside that window.
- Electric hook up needs a professionally fitted exterior socket, on a 10 amp supply. There is none for tents.
- Only some caravans take dogs, up to two, so say so when you book. Dogs stay off the furniture and out of the play area.
- Travel cots are £10 per booking. The park cannot supply high chairs or other baby equipment.
- The park says the wifi will not carry streaming, downloading or gaming, and cannot guarantee the signal indoors.

Where it puts you
Daviot East is eight miles south east of Inverness, a few miles off the A9 on the B9154 through Moy. The park sits on National Cycle Route 7, the Lochs and Glens route between Glasgow, Aviemore and Inverness, and is one of the few stops on it with hot showers and a kitchen.
It is also a sensible night before or after the NC500, which starts and ends in Inverness. Either shore of Loch Ness is about half an hour, so you can take the A82 for Urquhart Castle or the B852 down the east side for the quiet.

Frequently asked questions
When is the park open?
The aim is 1 April to 31 October for pitches, and mid April to late October for the chalet and caravans.
Do you have to book a pitch?
No, but the park advises it in July and August. Payment is not normally taken until you arrive.
Is there electricity on the tent pitches?
No. Hook up is for touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans with a professionally fitted exterior socket, on a 10 amp supply.
Is there a laundry?
Yes. The washing machine takes a £5 token from reception and the dryer five 20p coins. Each holiday home has ironing equipment and a clothes airer outside.
Can you leave a caravan there over winter?
Yes. The park stores touring caravans and motorhomes from November to March, by arrangement.
