The hut sleeps two adults and two children, with a comfy king-size bed and twin bunks above, accessed by a small ladder. Inside, the open-plan living space is bright, warm and well-designed. A wood-burning stove keeps it toasty all year round, and there’s a dining table for family meals or a game of cards after dark.
The kitchen has an electric hob, oven, fridge, dishwasher and small Belfast sink. Crockery, utensils and pantry essentials like oil, vinegar, tea and coffee are all provided to make self-catering easy. At the far end of the hut, you’ll find a stylish bathroom with a walk-in shower, toilet and basin, plus a starter pack of luxury soaps and shampoos.
Outside, the views stretch out towards the Gargunnock Hills. In the morning, sip a coffee on the picnic bench and listen to the birdsong. Light the fire pit in the evening and watch the sun go down. You might spot deer, hares or red squirrels wandering nearby.
The location makes it easy to get out and explore. There are walking and cycling routes straight from the doorstep and golf courses and horse riding nearby. Doune Castle is just a few miles away, with its dramatic gatehouse and the impressive Lord’s Hall. For a family day out, Blair Drummond Safari Park is close too, home to over 350 animals, including lions, giraffes and even a monkey drive-thru.
Whether you’re after peace and quiet or action-packed days, Bankhead Shepherd’s Hut offers a comfortable, scenic retreat to rest, recharge and reconnect with nature.
