Ten conversions, and the option of taking all of them
Beaufort is an estate in the hills above the Beauly Firth, and the holiday side of it is ten cottages let one by one rather than a site of matching lodges. They are conversions of what the estate used to need, so a bothy, a dairy, a larder, and two cottages at the old kennels each read differently inside.
That range is the point. The Larder sleeps two in one open room with the bed in it; Rose Cottage sleeps seven over two floors. Because one owner lets all ten, a group too big for any single cottage can take two or three side by side, and the estate quotes 41 as the ceiling. That is the sum of all ten, so it means the whole estate rather than a function room with beds attached.

Good to know
- No pets and no smoking. The Stables and Kennels Cottage leave that line out rather than saying yes, so ask first.
- The Larder, Kennels Bothy, and Kennels Cottage share one laundry. The other seven have their own washing machine.
- The Dairy and Checkers have no dishwasher.
- Firewood comes as a starter supply. Anything beyond it is charged as an extra.
- The estate publishes no check in times, minimum stay, or rates. All ten book through Scottish Cottages.
- Wifi is not listed at any cottage. The estate points instead at the post office in Kiltarlity for free internet access.

Where it puts you
Kiltarlity is less than a mile away, with a shop, a pub, and the bus to Beauly and Inverness. Beauly is two and a half miles on and has convenience stores, a delicatessen, restaurants, and rail links. Inverness is twelve miles east, close enough for dinner and far enough that the estate stays quiet, and two days there covers most of what people drive up for.
The owners call this a good place to start the North Coast 500, and that holds up: you are south of the loop's Inverness start, not an hour into it.

Frequently asked questions
Can we bring a dog?
No. Eight of the ten cottage pages say no pets and no smoking. The Stables and Kennels Cottage omit the line rather than offering an exception, so check first.
Is firewood included?
A supply comes with every cottage that has a stove or an open fire, and more can be bought at an additional charge.
Is there wifi?
The estate does not list wifi at any of the cottages. It points guests at the post office in Kiltarlity, which has a cafe and free internet access.
What else is in the cottages?
A flatscreen TV with Freesat, a DVD player, a music system, a fridge, an iron, and full kitchenware. A highchair and a travel cot are available.
What time is check in?
The estate does not publish check in or check out times. They come from Scottish Cottages, which takes the bookings for all ten cottages.
Can we manage without a car?
A bus runs from Kiltarlity to Beauly and Inverness, and Beauly has rail links. It is still rural, so a car makes the Highlands far easier.
