Arbikie Distillery Tours – Whisky, Gin & Vodka Experiences on the Angus Coast
Set above the sweeping coastline of Lunan Bay in Angus, Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery offers one of Scotland’s most distinctive distillery experiences. This family-run farm distillery near Montrose combines whisky, gin, vodka and sustainability tours with spectacular coastal views, creating an experience that feels far more personal than a traditional distillery visit.
Founded by the Stirling family on their working farm estate, Arbikie has become known for its “field-to-bottle” approach, growing many of the grains, potatoes and botanicals used in their spirits directly on the estate itself. The distillery is also recognised for its focus on sustainability and climate-positive spirit production.
Visitors can choose from a range of guided experiences, from classic whisky tastings to cocktail making sessions and behind-the-scenes tours exploring restricted warehouse areas normally closed to the public. Whether you’re a whisky enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable day out on Scotland’s east coast, Arbikie delivers a relaxed and immersive experience with incredible scenery included.
What to Expect
Whisky Experiences
Arbikie is home to the world’s first Highland Rye Scotch Whisky produced in more than 200 years. Guided whisky tours take visitors from the estate’s fields and grain production through to the copper stills and maturation warehouses, finishing with tastings overlooking Lunan Bay.
More immersive experiences include premium tastings in the private Stirling Suite, whisky cocktails, and access to restricted warehouse areas where guests can learn more about cask maturation and production techniques.
You will get to enjoy 2 drams, including a 1794 and Limited Edition Highland Rye Single Grain.
Gin & Vodka Tours
The Gin & Vodka Experience explores Arbikie’s award-winning white spirits, including their potato vodka and climate-positive gin. Visitors can handle botanicals and ingredients grown on the estate before enjoying guided tastings with mixers and expert commentary from the distillery team. You will sample 3 of Arbikie's spirits.
Cocktail Making Experiences
Cocktail workshops allow guests to create drinks alongside one of Arbikie’s ambassadors using spirits distilled on site. Experiences often include sharing platters and views across the coastline, making them popular for couples and group visits.
Sustainability Tours
For visitors wanting a deeper insight into the distillery, the Behind the Scenes Experience includes access to areas rarely shown during standard tours. Guests explore the fields, gardens, stills and warehouses while learning about Arbikie’s sustainability work and spirit production methods. You will get to see how learn how Arbikie have blended traditional practices with ground-breaking innovation.
