The Bannockburn Memorial in Stirlingshire with a sign depicting the words Here lies our land. in the background is the iconic Robert the Bruce statue.

Located on the site of one of Scotland’s most famous battles, this interactive visitor centre brings the story of Robert the Bruce and the 1314 battle to life — with a bit of modern technology thrown in.
It’s not your typical museum — this is a fully immersive experience where kids (and adults) can get involved, making it a great choice for families looking to escape the rain while diving into Scotland’s dramatic past.

History comes alive for all ages

The highlight here is the 3D battle simulation, where visitors can step into a virtual battlefield, meet life-sized warriors, and even command their own troops. It’s designed to be engaging and hands-on, making it perfect for children who might not be keen on traditional history lessons but love a bit of action and strategy.
The centre guides you through the events leading up to the Battle of Bannockburn, with interactive displays and storytelling that’s easy to follow for both kids and adults. Whether your family are history buffs or just enjoy something different, it’s a brilliant way to learn about one of Scotland’s defining moments.
Outside, there’s also the famous statue of Robert the Bruce and the battlefield memorial — so if the weather clears up, you can stretch your legs and explore the historic grounds too.

Parking and facilities

There’s plenty of free parking on-site, and the centre is just a short drive from Stirling city centre, making it easy to fit into a day of sightseeing.
Facilities include a gift shop packed with medieval-themed souvenirs, and a café serving light lunches, drinks, and snacks — ideal for refuelling after all that battle planning. Toilets and baby-changing facilities are available, and the centre is fully accessible for buggies and wheelchairs.
