Two cabins on a croft, not a cabin park
Cabin View is a small operation on land that used to be farmed. Sixty acres of it, with woodland trails and a walk round the pond, and two cabins set far enough apart that neither looks into the other. Two more are planned, so the site will grow, but for now there is very little of it and that is the appeal.
Each cabin is a one bedroom lodge, open plan, with a log burner and a separate shower room. The kitchen is fully equipped, the shower room has a hair dryer, and there is wifi and parking at each cabin. Linen and towels are provided, and a travel cot or an iron and board can be asked for. Outside there is a picnic area and a barbecue.
Two things set it apart from most cabin lets in the northeast. Dogs are welcome, and the trails and the pond walk are on the doorstep rather than a drive away. And the owners take one night bookings, at the weekend as well as midweek, which is unusual enough to matter if you are breaking a journey or only have a Saturday to spare.

Good to know
- There is no hot tub. The owners' own pages describe a log burner, a shower room, and outdoor seating, and nothing beyond that.
- The full cost is taken at the time of booking rather than a deposit.
- Cancel less than two days before arrival and the whole booking is charged, as it is for a no show or a stay cut short.
- Smoking is outdoors only, in the marked spots.
- Check in is a keypad key safe rather than a person, so plan to arrive between 3pm and 6pm.
- Only two of the four planned cabins are open, so the site is quieter now than it will be.
- Rates are not published on the website. The booking system prices your own dates.

Cuminestown sits in the farmland of Buchan, back from the coast and off the main tourist run, which is why the owners make a point of the wildlife passing the windows and of how dark the sky gets here.
The owners point guests at the Moray coast, the Speyside whisky trail, Royal Deeside, and the eastern Cairngorms. Speyside is the serious end of a distillery trip, and the coast east of the cabins runs out to the cliffs at Cruden Bay and the ruin of Slains Castle above them. Aberdeen is the city to the south, with its granite streets, its museums, and its beach.

Is there a hot tub?
No. Nothing on the owners' website describes one at either cabin.

Yes. It is a dog friendly site, with woodland trails and a pond side walk on the land itself.
How many cabins are there?

Yes, midweek or at the weekend. The full amount is payable when you book.

Separately, yes. The owners let a farmhouse for contractors, with two double bedrooms, one bathroom, a maximum of two adults, and a weekly changeover on long placements.
