Loch Lomond Faerie Trail

If you’re visiting Loch Lomond with kids and looking for something more exciting than just a scenic walk, the Loch Lomond Faerie Trail is a brilliant family adventure

More info here

Set in the picturesque village of Luss, this outdoor trail mixes nature, imagination, and a bit of mystery — all wrapped up in a fun-filled quest to find the hidden secrets of the woodland fairies.
It’s more than just a walk through the woods — it’s a storytelling experience where children (and adults who believe in a bit of magic) can follow clues, solve puzzles, and spot tiny fairy houses along the way.

A magical outdoor adventure for all ages

The Faerie Trail is designed with families in mind, especially those with younger children. You start by picking up a trail booklet from the Faerie Trail cabin in Luss, which guides you through the enchanted forest. Along the route, there are plenty of surprises — from fairy doors and hidden messages to colourful characters and cheeky trolls.
It’s an easy, well-marked path suitable for little legs, with just enough adventure to keep kids engaged from start to finish. The trail is self-guided, so you can take it at your own pace — stopping for photos, snacks, or to let imaginations run wild.

Parking and facilities

The trail begins in Luss, one of Loch Lomond’s prettiest villages, about 40 minutes from Glasgow. There’s a large public car park in the village (paid parking), which is also handy if you want to explore the lochside beach after your faerie hunt.
Toilets, cafés, and shops are all nearby in Luss, so it’s easy to turn the visit into a full family day out. The Faerie Trail cabin itself has a small shop selling fairy-themed gifts and treats for the kids.

Opening times & costs

The trail is open most of the year, though it’s best enjoyed in spring, summer, or autumn when the woodland is at its most magical.

Ticket prices:
