LOCH LOMOND

Loch Lomond Shores

If you’re after a family day out that mixes beautiful scenery with plenty of things to do, Loch Lomond Shores in Balloch is hard to beat

More info here

Sitting right on the edge of the loch, it’s more than just a shopping spot — it’s a hub for outdoor adventures, waterside walks, and activities that’ll keep everyone entertained, from toddlers to teens.
Whether you’re in the mood for a peaceful stroll along the beach, a bit of shopping, or something more adventurous like tackling the treetops, Loch Lomond Shores is the perfect base for a family-friendly day out.

From skimming stones to climbing through the trees

There’s loads to do here, and the best part is you can make your day as relaxed or action-packed as you like. Kids will love the play park and the chance to paddle along the pebbly beach, while older ones (and adventurous adults) can take on TreeZone Loch Lomond — a brilliant treetop course set high among the pines.
TreeZone is ideal for families with kids aged 7+ who enjoy a challenge. It’s packed with zip lines, balance bridges, and tightropes, all safely harnessed up. There are two courses to choose from — one shorter, easier route and a longer, more daring option for those wanting to test their nerve. It’s a great way to burn off energy while enjoying views over the loch from a very different perspective!
If heights aren’t your thing, there’s still plenty to enjoy — hire a pedal boat, go kayaking, or stick to dry land and explore the walking and cycling trails. On weekends and holidays, you’ll often find outdoor markets selling local crafts, food, and treats.

Parking and facilities

Loch Lomond Shores is well set up for families. There’s free parking on-site, and it’s just a short walk from Balloch train station if you’re coming by public transport.
