Finglen Shepherd's Hut
Just 10 miles from Glasgow, Finglen Cabin is a peaceful, off-grid escape surrounded by wildflower meadows and ancient woodland. With a king-size bed, outdoor bubble bath, wood burner and only the sound of the stream for company, this is slow living at its finest.
Set in nine acres of wild meadows and woodland, Finglen Cabin sits on the banks of the Finglen Burn, offering a deeply restful escape in the heart of nature. Though only 10 miles from Glasgow, it feels completely remote. With the soft rush of the stream and the rustle of trees as your soundtrack, this is a place to truly unwind.
Designed with care and built using natural materials, the cabin is both low-key and luxurious. Inside, you’ll find a king-size bed tucked into a snug nook, with a high-quality mattress, fine linens and soft throws to help you drift into deep sleep. A walk-in shower, composting toilet and wood burner make the space both practical and comfortable. The central kitchen and dining area is fully equipped for preparing simple meals or slow feasts. There's bench seating, warm lighting and thoughtful touches throughout, making the cabin feel cosy, welcoming and surprisingly spacious.
Step outside to the covered veranda and you’ll find a chiminea, soft seating, and one of Finglen’s highlights: a double-ended outdoor bathtub. With hot water and bubbles, it’s made for evenings under the stars with a glass of fizz in hand. Whether it’s sunny or raining, this spot is perfect for soaking, reading or simply listening to the burn trickle past.
The cabin is surrounded by walking trails through woodland and wildflower meadows. Local pubs and places to eat are nearby in Campsie Glen, or you can stock up in Glasgow and stay tucked in at Finglen for your entire stay. Your hosts are warm, knowledgeable and happy to recommend local spots if you fancy exploring.
Finglen is ideal for romantic escapes, solo retreats or anyone in need of a reset. It’s not suitable for pets or parties, and check-in is via a handy lockbox after 3pm. With sustainability at its core, this off-grid haven uses solar power, straw bale insulation, and rainwater harvesting, all while providing real comfort and charm.
