The estate is known for its strong focus on sustainability. The cabin blends beautifully into the land, with larch cladding, a living roof and huge triple-glazed windows that bring nature right inside.

The design is simple and modern, with views in every direction. Inside, it’s warm, bright and surprisingly spacious. There’s an open-plan living area with a kitchen and dining space, a separate bedroom, and a stylish bathroom.

Underfloor heating keeps the slate floors warm, and the wood burner adds extra comfort on chilly nights. There’s a leather armchair, a soft sofa (which turns into a bed), and a mounted TV for film nights – or just pour a dram and watch the sky change through the windows.

The kitchen is compact but fully equipped. Cook something tasty and sit down at the round table – it’s a lovely spot for breakfast, dinner, or a game of cards late into the evening.

The bedroom has a big, comfy bed with a warm duvet and soft pillows. Simple. Relaxing. Peaceful. And if you need more space, the sofa bed sleeps two.

The bathroom has both a walk-in shower and a deep bathtub, so you can choose how to start your day.

In the morning, wander to the nearby Finzean Farm Shop for a proper Scottish breakfast. Think Stornoway black pudding, fluffy pancakes, or fresh local eggs. They also serve great lunches – from soup and sandwiches to hearty taster plates.

You’re surrounded by forest, hills and miles of walking and cycling trails. Tom’s Cairn offers stunning views of the Dee and Feugh valleys, and there are several picnic spots along the way.

Visit nearby castles like Balmoral, Crathes and Braemar, or catch a local Highland games event if you're lucky. Keen golfers will find plenty of top courses nearby too.

Wildlife lovers are in for a treat – red squirrels, deer and rare birds are all part of the scenery here. The estate takes care of it all, and it shows.

For a slower day, head into Banchory or Ballater for a bit of shopping and a coffee. And if you're after a dram with history, the Royal Lochnagar Distillery near Balmoral offers tours. Fancy something extra special? The famous Fife Arms in Braemar is just up the road.
