Tucked away at the foot of Kinnoull Hill, this two-acre garden is bursting with colour, rare plants, and winding paths perfect for a gentle family stroll.
It might not have playgrounds or wide-open spaces for running wild, but it’s a fantastic place to introduce kids to nature, enjoy some fresh air, and slow things down for an hour or two. Plus, there’s tea and cake involved — always a win on a family day out.
Perfect for a calm outdoor adventure
Branklyn Garden is known for its incredible collection of plants, some of which are rare or unusual, collected from around the world. While adults will appreciate the beauty and tranquillity, children will enjoy exploring the little pathways, spotting bright flowers, buzzing bees, and maybe even a red squirrel if they’re lucky.
It’s a great way to spend time outdoors without committing to a big walk. The garden feels like a secret world, with something new to spot around every corner — from tiny alpine plants to towering trees.
Parking and facilities
Parking is limited right outside the garden, but there’s usually space along the nearby streets, and it’s only a short walk from Perth city centre if you fancy stretching your legs before and after your visit.
Branklyn is managed by the National Trust for Scotland, so facilities are well looked after. There’s a lovely tearoom serving light lunches, cakes, and drinks — ideal for a post-wander treat. Toilets are available on-site too.

Branklyn Garden is open from spring through autumn (usually April to October), when the flowers are at their best.
Entry prices:

It’s a small cost for a peaceful, scenic outing — and it helps support the upkeep of this special place.
