Devilla Forest, located near Kincardine in Fife, offers a peaceful and scenic escape into nature, with well-marked trails winding through dense pine woodlands and around tranquil lochs. The Four Lochs Walk is the most popular route, taking visitors on a roughly 5-mile (8 km) circular path past Bordie Loch, Peppermill Dam, Moor Loch, and Keir Dam.
The walk begins on wide, flat forest tracks, making it accessible for walkers of all abilities. Along the way, towering Scots pines provide a home for red squirrels, making Devilla one of the best places in Scotland to spot these elusive creatures. The lochs themselves are rich in wildlife, attracting birds such as herons, ducks, and even ospreys during the right season.
Each loch has its own charm—Bordie Loch is often mirror-like, reflecting the surrounding trees, while Peppermill Dam is a peaceful spot to pause and take in the stillness of the forest. Moor Loch and Keir Dam, nestled deeper in the woodland, offer a sense of seclusion and quiet, perfect for a moment of reflection.
