One house that comes apart
You can book as much of Brenachoile Cottage as you need. Whole, it sleeps ten across five bedrooms, with three bathrooms, a WC, two kitchens, and two lounges. As The Keep it sleeps six and as The Snug it sleeps four, and the halves have separate entrances and living space, so a group that wants company and a door to close can have both.
The Keep holds the main kitchen with its breakfast bar and a lounge with bi-fold doors facing the water. The Snug has a kitchen of its own, a lounge and dining area, a boot area, and a private terrace above the loch. Hot water runs off an air source heat pump, which the owners say ten showers at once will empty for half an hour.

Good to know
- Booking The Keep or The Snug alone does not give you the property to yourself. Only the full cottage does.
- Two small dogs under 17kg on request: trained, no puppies, off the furniture, and never left alone in the house.
- Children over two count towards the total unless they sleep in a travel cot, and a cot needs 30 days notice.
- Under 12s are not allowed in either hot tub, and the wood-fired one is not filled before arrival.
- Logs and kindling come as a starter pack from 1 November to 30 March. More is £5 a bag from the honesty box.
- Drinking water comes off the hill burn and can run brown after heavy rain. The owners say that is peat, and that it is tested.
Where it puts you
The house sits at the quiet end of Loch Katrine, inside Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The Great Trossachs Path, 30 miles from Callander to Inversnaid, runs directly in front of it, and Primrose Hill behind the house is a walk of about an hour and a half. Ben A'an and Ben Venue are both visible from the cottage.
Trossachs Pier, back at the barrier, is where the steamship Sir Walter Scott sails and where Katrine Wheelz hires bikes. Its Roderick Dhu tower opened in 2024 on the outlook hut Rob Roy MacGregor used to watch for redcoats, and Balquhidder, where Rob Roy is buried, is over the hill behind. Stirling is the nearest city.

Its tip is visible from the road along the loch, and the owners put its base under an hour from the door.

Frequently asked questions
What is the drive in like?
From the A84 at Kilmahog, the A821 runs 7.5 miles to the turning for the Trossachs Pier car park, just past the Tigh Mor Hotel. A security barrier opens onto North Shore Road, and the cottage is the first property, two miles along. The code comes with your booking.
Are dogs allowed?
Two small dogs under 17kg, on request. The owners ask for trained dogs, no puppies, none on the furniture, and none left alone in the house.
What is provided?
Bed linen and towels, bathrobes and slippers, Arran Sense of Scotland toiletries, blackout blinds, Neff appliances, Sonos, and smart TVs with Netflix and Sky in every room.
How do the hot tubs work?
The hydrotherapy pool is filled fresh for your arrival, though the owners warn it may not be fully hot the first evening. The wood-fired tub is left empty, and you fill it from the hose at the entrance to The Snug before switching it on.
Can we swim in the loch?
Yes, from the small beach in front of the cottage. The owners suggest water shoes, because it is pebbly.
